Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his desire to coach IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The speed veteran was a part of the former champions in the inaugural 2008, edition. Rawalpindi Express made his debut against the Delhi Daredevils(now Capitals), at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
In his very first outing, he rattled the Delhi batsmen, producing a stunning spell of 3-0-11-4, which broke the backbone of the opposition. Chasing 134, Shoaib’s thunderbolts reduced the visitors to 28 for four in the 5th over. The legendary pacer picked up the prized wickets of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, AB de Villiers and Manoj Tiwary to put shift the momentum in favor of the Shahrukh Khan-owned team.
Pen-ultimately, the Daredevils were bowled out for 110 and Shoaib was awarded Man of the Match. After
Shoaib expressed his latest opinions during an interactive session on Helo App. The 44-year-old wants to coach Team India’s bowlers. The Punjab-born reckons that by taking up the role, he could inject his qualities in the Men in Blue’s fast bowlers. Shoaib was always known to be reckless and ferocious, something one can argue has been missing from the Indian bowling lineup over the years.
At this moment in time, the men in blue have a decent pack of pacers. In fact, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been more than just decent over the last few years. With someone as experienced as Shoaib Akhtar at the helm, Team India’s bowling lineup could be taken to the next level, in terms of skill and mindset.
