As the star of Babar Azam shines brighter with every performance for the Pakistan team, comparisons with Indian captain Virat Kohli become more and more common. Thanks to his sheer consistency with the blade, the Lahore-born batting sensation has been constantly compared with the game’s best batsmen over the last few years.
However, Babar himself doesn’t seem a big fan of the comparisons. The newly appointed Pakistan ODI skipper has urged people to stop comparing him with Kohli.
“Don’t compare me with Virat Kohli because he is a player of different class. I try to perform well in my own way.” said Babar.
Opinionating on the doubts surrounding the ICC T20 World Cup, which is shceduled to be held in in Australia, Babar said that the cricket’s governing body will take the final decision keeping in mind the then situation surrounding the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“The decision about T20 World Cup will be taken by ICC. I’m sure they will take into account the health and safety of players before making a decision. I want to participate in the event as Pakistan’s captain.” he said.
Finally, Babar also spoke about a tough upcoming tour of England tour while expressing regret over the fact that matches will be played behind closed doors.
“Touring England won’t be easy. Health and safety of players is of great importance and the tour will only be possible when proper arrangements are in place. Both England and Pakistan team fans, along with the cricketers, are missing cricket because of the pandemic. We will still try to perform to the best of our ability despite no support from the fans in the stadium,” he concluded.
